Mission

The point of an IEP is not just to write it, but to change a students life with it. It measures how well our system is working for kids to measure their progress. Jeff Grimes, Iowa Department of Education
When you have a question regarding your child, contact your childs campus first and request to speak with the appropriate person: Case Manger (Special Education Teacher), Psychologist, Assistant Principal, Principal. If your child is at either Higley High School or Williams Field High School, please ask to speak to the Special Education Department Chair.

It is the philosophy of the Higley Unified School District and the Special Education Services Department to provide a continuum of services that will challenge each student to successfully reach his/her academic and behavior potential in becoming responsible, contributing citizens.

Special education means specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of a student with a disability. Services will be made available to meet the needs of all students with disabilities within the responsibility of the district who have been determined to be eligible and need special education and related services in order to benefit from their educational program.
